About EZ Piano

I started learning piano in mid-June 2026 - completely from scratch. Since I wasn't sure yet whether I'd stick with it long-term, I didn't want to buy a real piano right away. But I still needed a way to practice.

I looked for a web-based piano simulator that would let me map notes to my mechanical keyboard, so pressing keys would feel as close as possible to playing a real instrument. I couldn't find one that let me freely assign keys the way I wanted - so I decided to build my own.

That's how EZ Piano started: a simple browser-based virtual piano built for beginners like me, who want to practice scales and basic note-running exercises before committing to an actual instrument.

I'm building this as I learn, adding features based on what actually helps my own practice - things like a compressor to prevent audio clipping when playing multiple notes, and fixes for real bugs I ran into along the way (like keys getting stuck after copy-paste shortcuts in Chrome).

If EZ Piano helps you get a feel for piano before buying one, or gives you a quick way to practice scales anywhere, it's doing its job.
